Established with semi path between Toulouse and Carcassonne, the
commune of Castelnaudary is localised in the department of the Aude,
in the Languedoc-Roussillon area. Set up not far from the threshold of
Naurouze, place of sharing of Atlantic Ocean and sea waters the
Mediterranean, it occupies the plain of Lauragais, which is bordered
in north by the buttresses of the Noire mountain and in the south by
the hills of the Trap, upstream of the buttresses of the Pyrenees.
Castelnaudary is attached to the old province of Lauragais, cradle of
the catharism. It is crossed by Fresquel, Tréboul and the channel of
the South and is of this fact a very irrigated city. It is known as
being the capital of the Cassoulet.
Its Large Basin on the other hand granted to him the title of more
important port on the Channel of the South. Its territory bathes in a
climate with Mediterranean tendency with a oceanic influence. It is

XVe, XVIIIe and XIXe centuries ago to reveal a building of Gothic
style whose pyramidal arrow culminates with 50 meters; large organ of
the end of XVIIIe is useful of principal articles of decoration.
The mill of Cugarel deserves the turning as much. This building of the
XVIIe century forms part of the thirty mills decorating banks of the
Large Basin at the beginning of the XIXe century.
The Marina, located on the Small Basin of the Channel of the South, is
another tourist element of Castelnaudary not to be missed. Blue
Labellisé "Pavillon 2009", it is famous for its respect of
the environment. A river cruising on the channel by renting a boat
without licence makes discover the attractions of this beautiful area
shone upon to the splendid landscapes.
Thanks to its site, to only a few hundreds of meters of the centre
